Mat Andasun Band

The band plays my music live and also features on my studio recordings.

I am extremely lucky to have such great musicians to play with, who continue to submit themselves to my ludicrous arrangements – here they are:

Jeff Davenport

Jeff Davenport (Drums and sampler)

Jeff started his musical life in a brass band as a cornet player and moved to drums as soon as there was room to set a kit up!
Happy with all styles of playing, Jeff is currently teaching drums full time in Nottingham and Derbyshire schools while completing live and studio session dates.

Ben Martin Ben Martin (Sax and flute)

All round good egg, Ben rarely sleeps so it gives him time to learn too many instruments too well. Very underhand.

Bosco de Oliveira Bosco de Oliveira (Percussion)

The man who brought bloco samba to the UK and one of Europe’s best known percussionists, Bosco's biography goes on too long for one website. He’s played with the likes of Sade, Working Week, Loose Tubes, Airto Moreira, Charlie Palmieri, Claire Martin, Terry Callier and recorded with Everything But the Girl, Basia, Tim Garland, Working Week, Terry callier, June Tabor, Juliet Roberts. He also finds time to teach at DrumTech and lecture in ethno-musicology.

Richard Sliwa Richard Sliwa (Percussion)

Richard is known for his exceptional percussion skills (not featured) and his love of soft furnishings (featured).

Dave Sturt Dave Sturt (Bass, laptop, looper and vocals)

Dave has worked as a session player alongside Isaac Guillory, Michael Kamen, Dave Gilmour and Andy Sheppard amongst others and has composed themes and incidental music for film and television. He is currently also working with Theo Travis in the dark ambient project Cipher and recording a new album with Jade Warrior. Musician magazine described Dave as a “remarkable bass player.

Nick Daines
Nick Daines (Keyboards)

The new guy in the group, Nick has actually been playing in bands with Mat for 17 years, and incredibly keeps coming back for more!. Gadgets and salsa piano hold an equal place in his heart, making him ideally suited to the band.

Bands are often evolving organisms and this one’s no exception. Since it’s inception back in 1998 as Monomania, a number of fantastic musicians have played a part. All of them have made significant contributions to my music and I’m very grateful. They are:

Jim Correy (Sax 2001/02)
Nick France (Drums and sampler 1998)
Steve Franklin (Keyboards 1998)
Rachel Foster (Backing vocals 1998)
Kate Hogg (Flute and sax 1998 – 2000)
Steve Lodder (Keyboards 2000)
Trevor Lyons (Bass 1998)
Jeanette Mason (Keyboards 2001)
Huw Rees (Keyboards 2005)
Andy Sheppard (Sax 2003)
Joe Tatton (Keyboards 2001-2003)
Andy Tytherleigh (Bass 2001)
